Truly Appreciate the Love of the Friends
Over the last few weeks, the most challenging part of having to shelter in place has been not being able to see the dear brothers and sisters in the Congregation in person, and sharing handshakes and hugs. Honestly, the next time we are able to all meet together again is going to be something truly special.
It's also been incredibly heartwarming and refreshing to see the depth of the love the brothers and sisters have and their continued faithfulness. We had 142 in attendance for our meeting today. That is more that we normally have when we meet at the Hall. It was beautiful to see the faces of some older ones who are shut in, and normally only able to hear the audio over the phone tie in. You can see the joy in their face, as they are actually able to see everyone via the Zoom Video Conference. Just has been the case for the last few weeks, everyone was there 20 minutes early and still online waving and sending their love and greetings 20 minutes after the meeting was over. The love is so evident and it was beautiful
That does not even include all of the phone calls, the encouraging text messages, and kind words every time we speak. It shows how true Jesus' words at John 13:34, 35 are "I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves". The love of the Christian congregation is so incredibly evident when we see the effort everyone is making not just locally but throughout the earth to care for and be there for one another, and also to continue to find ways to share the comfort from the scriptures even when we can't go from door to door. Seeing that love is truly upbuilding and fortifying.
And what an amazing meeting we had today. We had our annual Special Talk prior to the Memorial observation that will take place on Tuesday evening, April 7. It's wonderful to know that every congregation will have the consideration of the same special talk throughout the world. And it was so timely and faith strengthening.
